Department of Agriculture
I was assigned to work with the Chuuk State Department of Agriculture. It was a love/hate experience but I
did meet and get to know a great bunch of guys. We accomplished a fair amount during the two years of my service
including a fair amount of alcohol consumption! The extension agents are experts at recuperating from a long
(but mostly short) day on the job.
Here are a few photos from the dept. of ag, but most of the good ones I still need to scan into digital format...
Chris, a fellow volunteer designed and painted this most excellent
murial so that people knew where our office was. Thanks Chris!
The final days of service. Dept of Ag guys threw us all a party
on the beach. Needless to say...a little Tuba (fermented coconut juice)
makes for a great party.
Ned get's down and boogies for the video camera

Me and Tarno on Parem Island...we had a workshop scheduled...
but true to island life, no one showed. Oh well.
Taro patch on an outer island
(Taro is a staple food crop..you eat the corm (sort like the root) ..very common root crop on Pacific Islands)
